Pattern Design Personal Project 2020
Illustration, Pattern Design, Digital Composition, Concept Development

This series of illustrated pattern designs is built from a library of original life drawing sketches, reworked into geometric compositions that function as seamless patterns. Each design uses body figure drawings as the base structure—nude forms rendered with attention to proportion, gesture, and rhythm—then layered into detailed arrangements that only reveal their subject upon closer inspection.

I handled every aspect of the process, from selecting and digitizing raw sketchbook material to vectorizing, editing, and developing each layout for seamless tiling. The patterns are constructed to hold both visual impact at a distance and conceptual depth up close, using repetition and symmetry to abstract the figure without losing the integrity of the original drawings.

This work demonstrates a crossover between fine art and applied design—using traditional drawing as a starting point for digital experimentation and print-ready compositions. It also reflects my ongoing interest in form, scale, and the way visual systems can carry complexity through simplicity.
